James William Venters

93 year old Mill Shoals, Illinois resident, James William Venters passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024 at his residence.

James was born on June 23, 1930 in Mill Shoals, Illinois to Roy and Frances (Hiley) Venters. He married Ruth Reynolds on August 7, 1954 in Fairfield, Illinois, they shared 68 years of marriage before Ruth's passing in December 2023.

James was an Insurance Agent for over 22 years with Prudential Insurance Company. He was a proud Navy Veteran serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the New Hope General Baptist Church and Fairfield American Legion.

James is survived by his children, Cathy Shular of Mill Shoals, Illinois, Diana (Steve) Merritt of Hanson, Kentucky, Jim (Sue) Venters of Heber, Arizona, Vicki (Bob) Farley of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and John ( Tonya) Venters of Old Hickory, Tennessee. Sister, Mary Frances Dagley of Buckhannon, West Virginia.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jason, Michelle, Allison, Shannon, Tammy, Angela, Josiah, Michael, Junior, Bobbi, Vonda, Leanna, Carl, Elisha, William, Mandy, Carissa, Jennifer, Anthony and Corbin. There are several great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife Ruth, 1 Brother, 2 Sisters, grandchildren Jessica, David, Jenni and infant daughter Elaina, Shaun, and Brandie.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Nale's Funeral Home, visitation will be from noon to service time at Nale's. Burial will follow at Shrewsbury Cemetery in Mill Shoals with full military rites conducted by American Legion Post 176 and Wayne Memorial Post 4535 VFW.
