Ann Sarks

73 year old Mill Shoals, Illinois residence Ann Sarks passed away 1:30 a.m. Thursday, December 6, 2018 at the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, Illinois. Ann stayed busy all her life working at Big T in West Virginia, Spartan Manufacturing in Grayville, Illinois as air horn tester, Rex Filter in Barnhill, Illinois as a security guard, and Fairfield Garment Factory. She had worked in the Mill Shoals Post Office and served as clerk for the village of Mill Shoals for 21 years. She also had her own store, "Ann's Attic" at Mill Shoals, Illinois. She was a member of the Mill Shoals Baptist Church. Ann had a love for horses and a passion for writing. She had a poem published, "Reflections of Yesteryear". She was a motherly wild spirit who met any challenge head on. She was loved and respected by all who knew her.

Ann was born July 24, 1945 in Ridgeway, Illinois to LeRoyal Ivan and Mary F. (Hiley) Venters.On May 29, 1981 she married Jack Sarks in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

Ann is survived by 2 daughters, Shayann Gurley and her husband Matthew of Carbondale, Illinois and Jan Catt and her husband Steve of Vincennes, Indiana; a son, Jody Sarks of Fairfield, Illinois; 1 brother James W. Venters and his wife Ruth of Mill Shoals, Illinois; 2 sisters Jean Taylor and her husband Bob of Mill Shoals and Mary Dagley of Buckhannan, West Virginia; 2 grandchildren, 1 foster granddaughter, Chasity Webb and her husband Tony, 1 step grandchild, 4 foster great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren, 1 step great-great grandchild. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 brother, Leroy Venters and 1 step son Jackie Dean Sarks.

Funeral services for Ann Sarks will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 10, 2018 at Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield, Illinois with Bro. Chris Funkhouser officiating. Burial will be in Shrewsbury Cemetery at Mill Shoals, Illinois.

Visitation will be 12:00 (noon) to the service time on Monday, December 10, 2018 at Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
