Katheryn McDowell Obituary

            92 year old former West Salem resident, Katheryn Mae McDowell passed away Friday, August 16, 2019 at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana.

            Katheryn was born September 3, 1926 in Lick Prairie, Illinois to Peter Raymond and Pearl Easter (Brines) Knust. Katheryn married James A. McDowell on July 20, 1950 and he preceded her in death on May 24, 1998.

            Katheryn was a homemaker and a member of the West Salem Christian Church.

            She is survived by a son, Jerry (Bonnie) McDowell of Coal City, Illinois and a daughter, Kathy (Lanny) Schmidt of Haubstadt, Indiana; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.  Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, two brothers, Clifton and Ed Knust and five sisters, Joan Coones, Phyllis Maurice, Rose Helen Grant, Gladys Guard, and Loiva Cox.

            A graveside service for Katheryn McDowell will be held Sunday, August 18, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the Moravian Cemetery in West Salem. Friends and family are asked to go directly to the cemetery. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.nalesfuneralhome.com. Memorials can be made to the Linda E. White Hospice House and will be accepted at the cemetery or Nale’s Funeral Home of Albion who are in charge of the arrangements.
