Kenneth G. Chalcraft, 80, of Indian Land, SC, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at his residence.
He was the son of the late Harold G. and Sarah L. (Wagner) Chalcraft. His mother was from the Pond Creek area of Wayne County.
Kenneth attended the University of Illinois and graduated from the University of Tennessee. He began his career with Caterpillar in Peoria and eventually became a nationally-known expert in computer control of inventory and parts management systems. He was still active as a consultant in his field at the time of his death. Kenneth served as an officer in the U.S. Army in the U.S. and Korea and was in the Army Reserves.
He is survived by two sisters, Jane (Dennis) Heydanek of Fort Mill, SC and Judith (Thomas) Karr of Fairview, Texas; a brother-in-law, Joseph Goeke of Litchfield, IL.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the Ellery Christian Church at 3:30 p.m. with a graveside service to follow at 5:30 p.m. at Graceland Cemetery in Albion, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Reach Out and Read of Litchfield, IL and can be accepted at the church. Nale’s Funeral Home of Albion is in charge of the local arrangements.
