Wendell Hedrick Obituary

            91 year old Albion resident, Wendell B. Hedrick passed away late Tuesday evening, June 11, 2019 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, Illinois.

            Wendell was born January 23, 1928 in Mount Erie, Illinois.  He was the son of Courtney and Lillian (Gaither) Hedrick.  He married Kathy Longbons on August 22, 1964 at the Little Prairie Christian Church in Albion and she survives.

            Wendell owned and operated Nu-Way Café in Albion for a number of years. He had also worked as a soil drilling technician with the State of Illinois. He had proudly served his country with the Army Air Force. Wendell was a member of the First Christian Church in Albion and a member of the Albion Moose Lodge, Mt. Carmel Elks, and the American Legion.

            He is survived by his wife, Kathy, two sons Scott (Faye) Hedrick of Noble and Gil (Kathleen) Hedrick of Hudsonville, Michigan and one step-son, Dan (Janette) Spruell of Decatur, IL. One brother, Errol Hedrick of Mt. Erie, three sisters, Dorothy Glover of Mt. Erie, Sharon Dukes of Jackson, Michigan and Darlene Caudill of Cincinnati, Ohio. Six grandchildren, one step grandchild, five great grandchildren, and two step great grandchildren also survive.

            He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Cynthia Hocking, one sister, one brother and three brother-in-laws.

            Funeral services for Wendell Hedrick will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the First Christian Church in Albion.  A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery with military rites provided by American Legion Post 590 and VFW Post 8222. Memorials can be made to Graceland Cemetery and will be accepted at the church or Nale’s Funeral Home.
