80-year-old Fairfield, Illinois resident Albert Joe Mattox died at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2013 at Way Fair Restorium in Fairfield, Illinois. He and his wife Barbara owned and operated the A & B Trim Shop in Fairfield for over 40 years. Albert served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and the Albion Moose Lodge. Albert was born September 23, 1932 in Wayne County, Illinois to Elza and Elsa Mayo Mattox. He was united in marriage February 18, 1955 to Barbara Xanders. Survivors include his wife Barbara Mattox of Fairfield, Illinois; a son Tom Mattox and his wife Gayle of Fairfield, Illinois; 1 daughter Kim Egbert and her husband Mike "Spud" of Carmi, Illinois; a sister Vera Anderson of Carmi, Illinois; 5 grandchildren Christopher Nelson, Keyna Jo Campbell, Joshua Egbert, Kelli Peddicord, and Jennifer Peddicord; and 3 great grandchildren Carter Campbell, Bentley Nelson, and Maddyson Peddicord. Albert was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters. Services for Albert Joe Mattox will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Nales Funeral Home in Fairfield, Illinois with Brother Justin Odom officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery of Fairfield, Illinois with full military rites conducted by the Anthony-Wayne American Legion and Wayne Memorial V.F.W. Posts. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2013 at Nales Funeral Home in Fairfield, Illinois.
