94 year old Mill Shoals, Illinois resident Bernice L. Tullis died at 5:18 p.m. Monday February 26, 2018 at her residence. When first married, Bernice and her husband both worked at a shipyard in Evansville, Indiana as welders. She was the Head Cook at Holiday Ranch Motel in Fairfield, Illinois and later retired from Rex Filters. Bernice was a long time member of the West Antioch General Baptist Church.
Bernice was born January 16, 1924 in LaSalle County, Illinois to Chancey Draper and Zelma Ward Draper. She was united in marriage December 24, 1940 in Morganfield, Kentucky to Eugene Tullis who died August 21, 1955.
Survivors include a daughter Genie Smothers of Mill Shoals, Illinois; a special daughter-in-law Jane Tullis of Lincoln, Illinois: a sister Erma Barlow of Fairfield, Illinois; 9 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Eugene, 3 sisters, a son Duwayne, 2 brothers, and a special friend Millage Nelson.
Funeral services for Bernice L. Tullis will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Saturday March 3, 2018 at Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield, Illinois with Brother Scott Smothers officiating. Burial will be in the Shrewsbury Cemetery.
Visitation will be conducted from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday March 2, 2016 at Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield, Illinois.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southeastern Illinois and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
