Bob J. Toombs

91 year old Columbia, IL. resident, Bob J. Toombs passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Nazareth Living Center in St. Louis, MO. 

Bob was born on February 18, 1932 in Mill Shoals, IL to Walter L. and Lurah M. (Simpson) Toombs. He married Helen Fansler on October 19, 1956 in Wayne County, IL. She preceded him in death on August 20, 2020.

Bob served his Country in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a Civil Service Computer Library Clerk at Scott Air Force Base.

Survivors include his son, David (Kelly) Toombs of St. Louis, MO.  Grandson, Jacob "JT"  Toombs of St. Louis, Mo. Niece Vicki (James) Young of Bluford, IL.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, 3 Brothers, Arnold, Lloyd and Charles. 1 Sister, Lela Staton.

Graveside services for Bob Toombs will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Maple Hill Cemetery with full Military rites provided by Anthony Wayne Post 176 American Legion and Wayne Memorial Post 4535 VFW.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 10:30 a.m. to service time at Nale’s Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Memorials may be made to the Mill Shoals Ruritan Club and will be accepted at Nale's Funeral Home.
