Former Edwards County Sheriff 78-year-old Calvin N. Boyer of Browns, Illinois died at 11:55 a.m. Thursday May 31, 2012 at Rest Haven Manor in Albion, Illinois. He served three terms of sheriff of Edwards County from 1978 to 1986. He operated a locksmith business and was a member of Bikers Against Drugs and the Browns United Methodist Church. Calvin was born November 23, 1933 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Harold and Lillian Martin Boyer. In 1966 Calvin was united in marriage to Linda Painter. Survivors include 2 brothers Ronald Boyer of Silver City, New Mexico and Jeff Boyer in Minnesota; a brother-in-law Charles Painter of Browns, a sister-in-law Donna Doty of Albion; and a nephew James Schooley of Albion. His parents, wife Linda, and son Shane preceded Calvin in death. Services for Calvin N. Boyer will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Albion with Brother Kirk Rowe officiating. Burial will be in Browns Cemetery. Visitation will be conducted at Nales Funeral Home in Albion Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Browns Cemetery and envelopes are available at Nales Funeral Home in Albion.
