Carroll "Gene" E. Garrison

Carroll “Gene” Garrison, age 83, of Fairfield passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, March 23, 2021 at Aperion Care in Fairfield.

Gene was born in Wayne County on November 5, 1937 to Kenneth and Mary Ann (Parrent) Garrison. Gene married Waunita Conway on September 19, 1959 in Mt. Vernon and they enjoyed 57 years together before her passing on September 28, 2016. Gene was a welder and machinist. He and Robert Jones started Garrison & Jones and Sons, Inc. in 1977 where he remained until his retirement in 2008. Gene was a proud veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1955 until 1958. He had been a member of the Fairfield Masonic Lodge 206 for over 50 years having served as a Past Master as well as being a member of the Shriners.

Gene is survived by two sons, Michael Deffendall and Monty Garrison both of Fairfield, one brother, Billy Ray Garrison of Fairfield, one grandson and three great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, beloved wife Waunita, and daughter-in-law, Shannon Garrison.

Funeral services for Gene Garrison will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, March 26th, 2021 at Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial to follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Fairfield with full military honors provided by Anthony Wayne American Legion Post 176 and the Wayne Memorial Post 4535 VFW.  A visitation will be held on Thursday evening, March 25th from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Nale’s Funeral Home with Masonic rites at 7:00 pm. Please follow the CDC guidelines of social distancing and the wearing of face masks. Memorials may be made to the Fairfield Masonic Lodge #206 and will be accepted at the funeral home.
