Charles E. Suddarth

Charles E. Suddarth, 88, of Fairfield, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital.

He was born August 18, 1933, in Wayne County, Illinois to Ross and Martha (Simpson) Suddarth.  Charles was a veteran of the United States Army.  He was the previous owner of Wayne County Roofing Company, a former Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputy and Jailer, and trained harness horses.  In 2017 he was inducted into the IWA Hall of Fame for his achievements as a professional wrestler.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; son, Carl Suddarth; son-in-law, Burl Young; siblings, Maxine Locke, Myrtle Locke, George Suddarth, Beatrice Jake Riley, Glenn Suddarth, Bennie Suddarth, Jane Bowles, Hattie Hooper, and 3 siblings in childhood; and special friend Cindy Gregg.

Charles is survived by his son, Lindsay (Susan) Suddarth of Fairfield, IL; daughters, Beth Young of Fairfield, IL, Peggy Pauly of Pleasanton, NE, and Annette (Keith) Buse of Lynnville, IN; grandchildren, Alaina (Donnie) Yarnell, Leah Suddarth, Nathan Colyer, Chelsey Smith, Ashley Rains, Elissa Suddarth, Colton (Meghan) Young, Meghan (Justin) McKnight, Heather Suddarth, Parker Buse, and Payton Buse; several great grandchildren; siblings, Dorie Sager, Nancy Musgrave, Minnie Wellen, and Tom Suddarth; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Charles E. Suddarth will be Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery.
