67-year-old Albion, Illinois resident Cindy S. Hocking died at 4:40 a.m. Monday, August 14, 2017 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital in Fairfield, Illinois. She worked at the Albion Ben Franklin Store, the Regional Superintendent of Schools office, the West Salem Advocate newspaper, and served as the Edwards County Treasurer for 8 terms or 32 years. After retiring, Cindy worked as a Customer Service Representative at Citizens National Bank in Albion from 2014 to 2016. In 1995, Cindy was named the Treasurer of the Year.
Cindy graduated from Albion Grade Scholl in 1964 and from Edwards County High School in 1968. Cindy was the Homecoming Queen in 1967. She graduated from Olney Central College in 1970.
Music was a big part of Cindy's life. She was the organist and pianist at the First Christian Church and the First United Methodist Church. She also played at several weddings and funerals. Cindy was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Albion.
Cindy was born June 11, 1950 in Olney, Illinois to Wendell B. Hedrick and Patricia Henderson Gill.
Survivors include her parents Wendell and Hedrick and his wife Kathy of Albion, Illinois and Patricia Gill of Albion, Illinois; two brothers Scott Hedrick and his wife Fay of Noble, Illinois and Gil Hedrick and his wife Kathleen of Huntsville, Michigan; a step brother Daniel Spruell and his wife Janet of Decatur, Illinois; 2 step sisters Karen Gray and her husband Phil of Albion, Illinois and Charlotte McKechnie of Marysville, Illinois; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services for Cindy S. Hedrick will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 17, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Albion, Illinois with Brother Steve Livengood officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery of Albion.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday August 17, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Albion, Illinois.
Memorials may be made to the Fairfield Memorial Hospital Comfort Room, the Senior Citizens Center of Albion, or the Graceland Cemetery and will be accepted at Nale's Funeral Home in Albion.
