Cortez Coffelt

88 year old Fairfield, Illinois resident Cortez Coffelt died Saturday May 5, 2018 at Aperion Care in Fairfield, Illinois. He was a local auctioneer in Geff and Mt. Carmel area. Cortez was raised on the family farm in southeastern Kentucky and a local auctioneer for many years. He enjoyed dealing in antiques and being around his friends. He was an avid pool player, loved playing his guitar and entertaining folks.

Cortez was born August 20, 1929 in Thompkinsville, Kentucky to Limmuell Coffelt and Lilly Brown Coffelt.

Survivors include 1 son Ernie Coffelt and his wife Lois of Fairfield, Illinois; a son-in-law Jackie Ewing of Fairfield, Illinois; 2 daughters Linda Tennyson and her husband Gilbert of Fairfield, Illinois and Nancy McClellan of Fairfield, Illinois; a sister Floy Graves of Thompkinsville, Kentucky; a special friend Judy Weir of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; a niece Lisa Green and her husband Roger of Burnt Prairie, Illinois; 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews in the Kentucky, Tennessee, and Indiana area.

Cortez was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ona Stewart Coffelt, a daughter Margaret Ewing, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

Graveside services for Cortez Coffelt will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Wednesday May 9, 2018 at Maple Hill Cemetery in Fairfield, Illinois with Brother Bill Howard officiating.

There will be no visitation so family and friends should go directly to the cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Nale's Funeral Home for funeral expenses and envelopes will be available at the cemetery or Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield.
