82-year-old Albion, Illinois resident, Donald E. Colyer, died 4:47 a.m. Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, Illinois. He was a farmer and State of Illinois Maintenance worker. Donald was a member of the First Baptist Church of Albion, the Albion Moose Lodge, as well as the Albion-Browns American Legion Post. He served his country during the Korean Conflict. Donald was born January 6, 1929 in Albion, Illinois to Wallace and Louella Walker Colyer. He was united in marriage to Betty Vaughn on September 15, 1953 in Albion. Survivors include a son Douglas Colyer and his wife Alicia of Swansea, Illinois; 1 brother Dale Colyer of Morgantown, West Virginia; 2 sisters Gail Rusk of Noble, Illinois and Lois Skelton of Olney, Illinois; 2 granddaughters Kelli Allen of St. Charles, Missouri and Sonja Fernandez of Fairfield, Illinois; as well as six great grandchildren. His parents, wife, a daughter Vicki Nelson, and 1 grandson Lincoln Colyer preceded Donald in death. Funeral services for Donald E. Colyer will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 2, 2012 at Nales Funeral Home of Albion with Brother Kirk Rowe officiating. Burial will be conducted at a later date in Graceland Cemetery of Albion. Visitation will be Monday, January 2, 2012 after 5:00 p.m. at Nales Funeral Home in Albion.
