Donald E. Vaughan

86 year old Fairfield resident, Donald E. Vaughan passed away Sunday morning October 12,  2025 at his residence in Fairfield, Illinois.

Don was born January 30, 1939 near Burnt Prairie, Illinois in White County, to Pleasant and Geneva (Dunn) Vaughan.  Don had worked at Airtex for over 41 years before retiring.  Don began preaching at a very young age. He had ministered at the Albion Faith Apostolic Assembly for over 50 years and had previously ministered at the Mt. Erie Pentecostal Church.

Don married Jean A. Smith on February 1, 1957 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Donald & Jean celebrated 68 wedding anniversaries together.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

Don is survived by his wife; Jean, 3 sons; Ronnie & Carol, Randy & Lisa, Stephen & Jessi all of Fairfield. 2 daughters; Pam & Charlie Southerd of Fairfield and Trish & Randy Hilliard of Cisne, Illinois. 18 Grandchildren ,  25 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren, 1 brother; Joe Vaughan and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Donald E. Vaughan will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 16, 2025 at Nale’s Funeral Home in Fairfield. Visitation will be Wednesday evening, 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Fairfield. Memorials may be given to the Fairfield Rural Fire Department and will be accepted at Nale’s Funeral Home.
