Doris E. (Carter) Osterman

Doris E. Osterman, age 83, of Fairfield passed away at Fairfield Memorial Hospital Monday morning, July 12, 2021.

Doris was born in Wayne County on March 10, 1938 to Jessie and Hazel (Boyer) Carter. She married Allen Osterman on December 29, 1958 at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Fairfield. They enjoyed over twenty years together until his passing in 1981. Doris graduated from Edwards County High School and obtained her cosmetology certification shortly afterwards. Her true joy was making a loving home for her family, who were her world.

Doris is survived by two daughters, Brenda (Ron) Ray of Tucson, Arizona and Cheryl (Jarrod) Dice of Bismarck, Illinois; Two brothers, Alvin Carter of Wood River, Illinois and Forrest Carter of East Alton, Illinois; three beloved grandchildren, Meredith Ray, Nathan and Emily Dice; several nieces and nephews including special niece Pam Osterman of Effingham. Preceding Doris in death were her parents, husband Allen, and siblings Mary Osterman, Robert Franklin Carter, and Paul Leon Carter.

Funeral services for Doris Osterman will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Nale’s Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial following in Maple Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service starting at 10:00 a.m. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be left for the family at www.nalesfuneralhome.com. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield which is in charge of the arrangements.
