Dwain O. Massie

98 year old Albion, Illinois resident Dwain O. Massie died at 8:20 a.m. Monday, November 20, 2017 at Premier Health Care of New Harmony, Indiana. He had worked in the banking business for over 70 years working at Citizen's National Bank of Albion. Dwain was a member of First United Methodist Church in Albion, Rotary, Edwards County Historical Society, Tri-State Historical Society and the Town & Country Card Club. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army from 1940 to 1946. Dwain also was the former Treasurer for the city of Albion.

Dwain was born October 6, 1919 in Mt. Erie, Illinois to Grover Massie and Laura Lavada Floyd Massie. He was united in marriage in Albion, Illinois February 4, 1951 to Maxine Roosevelt who died October 12, 2004.

Survivors include 2 daughters Lynn Massie-Southerland and her husband Neil of Albion, Illinois and Lesa Bennett and her husband James "Chip" of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; a son Peter Leung and his wife Emy; 4 grandsons and 5 great grandchildren.

Dwain was preceded in death by his parents, wife Maxine, and 4 brothers.

Funeral services for Dwain O. Massie will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday November 25, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Albion, Illinois with Brother Matt Henson officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery of Albion, Illinois with full military rites provided by the American Legion Post 9590 and VFW Post 8222.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday November 24, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Albion, Illinois.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Edwards County Senior Citizens and envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the church.
