Eddie "Ed" Wampler Obituary

Eddie “Ed” Wampler of Albion passed away peacefully on Nov 23rd, 2020 at his home.  Ed was born on September 22, 1938 in Allendale, IL, the son of Merlin and Marguerita Wampler.  He was married to Bonnie Newsum on December 2, 1962 at Barney Prairie Christian Church in Mt. Carmel.  Ed attended Allendale High School.  He entered the US Army in 1961 and was stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Ed was a retired Line Foreman for Ameren Utility where he worked for over 30 years.  He was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Albion.  Ed loved all sports, especially golf and loved spending time at his river camp in Mount Carmel with many special friends.

Ed is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bonnie, children Shannan (Scott) Saxe of Evansville, IN, Kristen (Mike) Speir of Albion, IL and Ryan (Lori) Wampler of Mount Carmel, IL.  Six Grandchildren, Tyler Saxe (Michelle Kelly), Sydney (Andrew) Thomson, Seth Root (Jordan McWhirter), Chase (Jaci) Saxe, Quentin (Kate) Speir and Trey Wampler; Nine Great Grandchildren, Bo and Maggie Speir, Kenton Ravello, Annari, Annabelle and Aryann Wampler, Palmer Thomson and Carter Saxe; Four brothers Jack (Wiletta) Wampler, Joe (Susan) Wampler, Jim (Beth) Wampler, Scott Wampler; Two sisters Marsha (Wes) Campbell and Peggy Mahnke and many nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kenneth Wampler. 

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday November 27th, 2020 at Graceland Cemetery in Albion, IL, with military rights to be conducted. There will be no visitation, friends and family are asked to go directly to the cemetery. Please follow the CDC guidelines of social distancing and the wearing of masks. Memorials are encouraged to the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, Albion Public Library or Edwards County Senior Citizens and will be accepted at the service or Nale’s Funeral in Albion which is in charge of the arrangements.
