Edna J. (Gines) Campbell

85 year old Grayville resident, Edna J. Campbell passed away at Meadowood Nursing and Rehab in Grayville on Sunday morning, October 25, 2020.

Edna was born September 15, 1935 in Olney, the daughter of Francis “Pete” and Lucy (Whitworth) Gines.  She married Fred Leveque on November 25, 1951 in Albion and he preceded her in death on January 17, 1978. She later married Melvin Campbell in 1983 in Mt. Carmel and he survives. Edna enjoyed being the van driver for the Edwards County Senior Citizens Center, happily taking individuals wherever they needed to go. She had been a member of the Browns United Methodist Church, and later joined the Albion House of Prayer. Edna loved flowers and often could be found working in her flower gardens.

Edna is survived by her husband, Melvin, daughter, Cheryl Leveque of Browns, sons, Bill (Debra) Leveque of Browns, Steve Leveque of Springville, Tennessee, and Rick (Kristina) Leveque of Browns, step-daughter, Julie (Roger) Coale of Oregon, seven grandchildren, two step grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren and nine great - great grandchildren. Preceding Edna is death were her parents, first husband, Fred, and two brothers.

In keeping with Edna’s wishes, cremation has been accorded and a graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at 10:00 am at Graceland Cemetery in Albion with Bro. Kenny Bailey officiating. There will be no visitation. Friends and family are asked to go directly to the cemetery.  Please follow the CDC guidelines with social distancing and the wearing of masks. Memorials in memory of Edna can be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted at the service or at Nale’s Funeral Home in Albion who are in charge of the arrangements.  Online condolences can be left for the family at www.nalesfuneralhome.com.
