Esther A. (Kroener) Payne

92 year old Albion resident, Esther Anna Alfrieda Payne passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

Esther was born March 17, 1927 at Oakdale, Illinois to Albert and Margaret (Lehman) Kroener.  In May of 1966, Esther married Joseph Payne in Nashville, Illinois.   Joseph preceded her in death on April 21, 2004.  Esther was a licensed cosmetologist.  Esther and Joseph owned and operated Reaban’s Drive Inn in Albion for a number of years.

Esther Payne is survived by one son, Gary Renfro of Louisville, Kentucky, one sister in law, Norma Kroener of Oakdale, Illinois, and three grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother Charles, and two sisters Alice Eichenrauch and Arlene Campbell.

Graveside services for Esther Payne will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at the Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens, West of Mt. Vernon, Illinois.  Friends and family are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
