Florene Heflin Obituary

90-year-old Fairfield, Illinois resident Florene Heflin died at 6:12 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. She was a secretary for the Wayne County Extension Service for 10 years before her retirement. Florene was a member of the Ellen Moore United Methodist Church of Fairfield and was a member of the Fairfield Memorial Hospital Auxiliary where she was recognized for 4,000 hours of service. Florene was born March 6, 1921 in Wayne County, Illinois to Frank and Mary Simpson Sork. On December 21, 1940 she was united in marriage to Wayne Heflin in Fairfield, Illinois. Survivors include 2 sons: Ron Heflin and his wife Marty of Fairfield and Larry Heflin and his wife Merrilee of Kennesaw, Georgia; 2 daughters: Gail Simmons and her husband Arthur of Atlanta, Georgia and Pat Monge and her husband Geoff of Monticello, Illinois; as well as 8 children, 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Her parents, husband Wayne, 4 sisters- Maude Gregory, Edna Buchanan, Madeline Weaver, and her twin sister Lorene Simpson preceded her in death. Funeral services for Florene Heflin will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Nales Funeral Home in Fairfield, Illinois. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery of Fairfield. Visitation will be conducted at Nales Funeral Home in Fairfield Wednesday, March 7, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, March 8 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial may be made to the Fairfield Memorial Hospital Foundation or the Ellen Moore United Methodist Church and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
