Fred J. Berger

90 year old Albion, Illinois resident Fred J. Berger died at 8:05 a.m. Saturday April 28, 2018 at Rest Haven Manor in Albion, Illinois. He was retired from 51 years of service with Prairie Farms Dairy in Olney, Illinois. Fred was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a member of the Albion VFW Post 8222 and the Bone Gap Christian Church.

Fred was born May 30, 1927 in Richland County, Illinois to Fred Berger, Sr. and Bernice Gaddy Berger. He was united in marriage November 11, 1944 in Shelby County, Kentucky to Peggy McCord who died August 4, 1998.

Survivors include 2 sons Don Berger and his wife Diana Jo of Albion, Illinois and Kevin Berger and his wife Aline of Albion, Illinois; a daughter-in-law Dianne Berger of Albion, Illinois; 2 sisters Velma Prosser of Noble, Illinois and Betty Prosser and her husband Fred of Noble, Illinois; grandchildren Brett Berger and his wife Shari of Albion, Illinois, Tony Berger of Grayville, Illinois, Kelley Biggs and her husband Jason of Albion, Illinois, Dana Atteberry and her husband Scott of Albion, Illinois, DeeAnn Berger of Evansville, Indiana, Erin MacSaveny and her husband Tim of Morogoro, Tanzania, and Kathy Thornburg and her husband Troy of Matthews, North Carolina; great grandchildren Nichole Dwyer, Kayleigh Witter and her husband Jeremy, Eli Berger, Ty and Maia Atteberry, Campbell and Parker Biggs, Rose, Everett, Julian and Lucy MacSaveny, Milo and Eden Thornburg; of Fairfield, Illinois and 1 great grandson Tate Witter.

Fred was preceded in death by his wife Peggy, a son Ron, and 2 brothers Carl and Bob.

Funeral services for Fred J. Berger will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday May 1, 2018 at Albion First Christian Church with Brother John Bogle officiating. Burial will be in Crest Haven Cemetery in Fairfield, Illinois with full military rites conducted.

Visitation will be conducted from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday April 30, 2018 Albion First Christian Church.

Memorials may be made to the Pioneer Bible Translators and envelopes will be available at the church or Nale's Funeral Home in Albion.
