69-year-old former Fairfield resident, Gary L. Simms of Pontiac, Illinois died at 4:00 a.m. Thursday April 26, 2012 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bloomington, Illinois. Gary worked in the maintenance department of Loves Park School District. He was a 45-year member of the Valley Freeport Masonic Lodge and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960 to 1964. Gary was born August 5, 1942 in Fairfield to Dale H. and Eleanor Withrow Sims. Survivors include a daughter Sonia Rennier of Orlando, Florida; a brother Joey Simms of Princeton, Indiana; 2 sisters LaDonna Densmore of Pontiac, Illinois and Lonna Wagner of Argyle, Wisconsin; and 1 grandchild Ryan Rennier serving in Afghanistan. His parents preceded Gary in death. A graveside service with Masonic Rites for Gary Simms will be conducted at Maple Hill Cemetery in Fairfield at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2012. Rev. Charles McDonald will officiate. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery. There will be no visitation.
