94-year-old Fairfield resident, Genevieve J. Moats, died at 6:19 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2012 at Deaconess Hospice Care Center in Evansville, Indiana. She was a homemaker. Genevieve was a former member of the Mt. Erie United Methodist Church and attended the Ellen Moore United Methodist Church in Fairfield, Illinois. Genevieve was born June 9, 1917 in Albion to Joseph and Celia Ellen Snelling Elliott. On September 26, 1936 she was united in marriage to Charlie F. Moats in Fairfield. Surviving are 4 daughters, Joselene Smith and her husband Kelly, Mava Moats, Mary Moats, and Dora Schnell and her husband Allen all of Fairfield; one granddaughter, Larissa Branstetter and her husband David of Evansville; two step grandchild, Lisa Smith of Kings Mountain, Kentucky,1 great-grandchild, 3 step great grandchildren, 3 step great great grandchildren, a nephew Tex Moats of Fairfield, a niece Janice Jones of Newburgh, Indiana, as well as several other nieces and nephews. Her parents, husband Charlie, 1 son and 1 sister preceded Genevieve in death. Graveside services for Genevieve J. Moats will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday January 24, 2012 at the McKendree Cemetery near Mt. Erie with Rev. Brett Yates and Rev. Jim Williams officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 23 at Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield.
