85-year-old former Mt. Erie, Illinois resident, Harold J. Bunnage of Fairfield, Illinois died at 9:12 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2017 at his home. He had been a farmer. Mr. Bunnage was a veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post 590 and VFW Post 8222. Harold was also a member of the West United Methodist Church,
Harold was born February 13, 1932 in Wayne County, Illinois to Floyd Bunnage and Mary Frances Penrod Bunnage. He was united in marriage January 23, 1953 to Elinor Jean Barnett.
Survivors include his wife Elinor Bunnage of Fairfield, Illinois; 2 sons, Tony Bunnage and his wife Marsha of St. Francisville, Illinois and Bill Bunnage and his wife Rhonda of Nashville, Illinois.; 2 daughters Carol Vaughn and her husband Rod of Fairfield, Illinois and Betty Rouse and her husband Orrie of Energy, Illinois; 3 brothers Frank Bunnage and his wife Ann of Mt. Erie, Illinois, Carl Bunnage and his wife Ruth of Fairfield, Illinois and Nile Bunnage and his wife Esther of Golden Gate, Illinois; 2 sisters, Dorthea Summers of Noble, Illinois and Flava Bunting of Albion, Illinois; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Harold was preceded in death bys his parent, a son, and 1 grandchild.
Funeral services for Harold J. Bunnage will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 10, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Fairfield, Illinois with Brother Mike Buckman officiating. Burial will be in West Cemetery south of Mt. Erie with full military rites performed by the American Legion Post 590 and American Legion Post 8222.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday March 9, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Fairfield, Illinois.
Memorials may be made to the Career Development Center, American Heart Association or the Fairfield or Albion Senior Citizens. Envelopes will be available.
