Hazel Hucker Obituary

95-year-old Fairfield, Illinois resident, Hazel I. Hucker, died at 1:25 p.m. Sunday, November 11, 2012 at WayFair Restorium in Fairfield. She was a farm wife, a school bus driver for the Mill Shoals Grade School, a cook at Mills Prairie High School and at WADI, and was a Star Mail Route carrier. Hazel was born November 11, 1917 in White County, Illinois to Robert and Maggie Wilson O'Dell. She was united in marriage to Charles L. Hucker on January 5, 1935 in Carmi, Illinois. Hazel was a member of Ashland Christian Church. Surviving are a son, Doyle Hucker and his wife Toby of Fairfield; three daughters, Dee Harper and her husband Leonard and Dorothy Merritt and her husband Jim of Fairfield, and Doris Wheeler and her husband Kent of Grayville; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren and seven step-great-great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Cecil Hucker; and two sisters-in-law, Barbara Hucker and Faye Hucker. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, 7 sisters, and 3 brothers. Funeral services for Hazel I. Hucker will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield with Brother Kent Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 13 at Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield. Memorials may be made to Wayfair Restorium Comfort Room.
