Hazel Snidle Obituary

94 year old Hazel Alma Penrod Snidle of rural Albion, Illinois passed into eternity at 4:38 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana with family by her side. Hazel was born October 12, 1918 in Oxly (Ripley County), Missouri to Francis and Lula Spitler Penrod. She married Raymond Snidle on August 12, 1936 in Oxly, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 20, 1976. Raymond and Hazel lived and farmed in Edwards County during their marriage and ran a trucking company. Hazel was known to drive the semi and tractors as needed. Hazel also worked at the poultry house in Albion and retired from Champion Laboratories in West Salem in 1983 after 14 years. Hazel loved to quilt, work in her yard, garden and flowers. She dearly loved spending time with her family and friends and attended as many sporting, musical and other events that her children and grandchildren were in as she could. She also enjoyed sending cards to family and friends. She was a member of the West Village Christian Church and the Women of the Moose Albion Chapter #1530. Until her health began to fail she enjoyed being active in the local HOA club. Hazel is survived by three sons: Jack Snidle and his wife Joyce of Albion, Illinois, Dr. Will Snidle and wife Julie of Festus, Missouri, and Seaton Snidle and wife Laurie of Albion; a sister Sylvia Bond of Olney, Illinois; eleven grandchildren: Elaine Hartsock of Vincennes, Indiana, Hazel Aline Berger and her husband Kevin of Albion, Illinois, Marjorie Coleman and her husband Rudy of Albion, Illinois, Raymond Snidle and his wife Cindy of Newton, Illinois, Seth Snidle of Festus, Missouri, Christopher Snidle and his wife Danelle of Sigel, Illinois, Brittni Snidle of Festus, Missouri, Nicholas Snidle of Grayville, Illinois, Michael Snidle of Albion, Illinois, Rachel Breiti of Charleston, South Carolina, and Leah Breiti of Kenosha, Wisconsin; eleven great-grandchildren: Stephen Hartsock, Jackie Hartsock, Rosie Hartsock, Erin Berger MacSaveny, Kathy Berger Thornburg, Sarah Coleman, Jessica Snidle, John Snidle, Jillian Snidle, Kelly Fletcher and Derby Roan; seven great-great-grandchildren: Brandon Conover, Noah Kuykendall, Rose and Everett MacSaveny, Milo Thornburg, Eli Young and Cayler Bowman. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Howard Snidle, great-grandson Nathan Ethridge, brothers Hayward and Ralph Penrod and sister Ethel Elliott. Funeral services for Hazel Snidle will be held Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at West Village Christian Church with burial to follow at the West Village Cemetery. Pastor Dennis Seidel of the Northside Missionary Baptist Church in Grayville and Pastor Derek Facculyn-Gous of West Village Christian Church will officiate. Pallbearers will be Raymond, Seth, Christopher, Nicholas, Michael and John Snidle. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Nale's Funeral Home in Albion. Memorials may be made to the West Village Cemetery Fund and can be made at Nale's Funeral Home in Albion or sent to the church at 371 County Road 1300 N, Albion, IL 62806.
