Helen Valeda Hortin

91-year-old Henderson, Kentucky resident, Helen Valeda Hortin died at 5:35 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017 in Henderson, Kentucky. She had worked as a medical assistant. Helen was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Helen was born October 20, 1925 in Cowling, Illinois to Grover Ridens and Selma Bosecker Ridens. She was united in marriage April 9, 1949 to Clyde Hortin who died October 27, 2001.

Survivors include a son, Kent and wife Janet Hortin of Henderson, Ky.; a step-daughter, Brenda Koester and her husband Dwight of Bloomington, Indiana; 5 grandchildren Brian Hortin and his wife Lauren, Brandon Hortin and his wife Mellisa, Jeni Church and her husband Ryan, Greg Koester and his wife Bridget, Lisa Veitengruber and her husband Kirk; as well as several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Helen Valeda Hortin will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Nale's Funeral Home in Albion with Rev. Irvin Figgins officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery at Mount Carmel, Illinois.

Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017 until the time of service at Nale's Funeral Home in Albion.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Albion and will be accepted at Nale's Funeral Home in Albion.
