Hershel L. Watson

58 year old Fairfield resident, Hershel L. Watson, passed away Friday, September 9, 2022 at his residence.

Hershel was born on November 3, 1963 in Fairfield, Illinois to Leland and Evelyn (Pierson) Watson. He was a truck driver for Republic Services for 15 years and had worked part time at the Wayne County Press. Hershel served in the United States Army and was a member of the Wayne Memorial Post 4535 VFW.

Survivors include his 2 daughters; Jennifer (Ron) Stark of Fairfield, IL and Rachel Ochs of Olney, IL, 1 step daughter; Nancy (Jason Carter) Kollak of Fairfield, IL, 4 brothers; Arthur Watson of Olney, IL, George Watson of Rogersville, AL, Marcus (Klynn) Watson of Fairfield, IL, David (Crystal) Watson of Florence, AL, 2 sisters; Ethel Drew of McLeansboro, IL and Alice (Austin) Brown of Palmer, AK and 4 grandchildren.

Hershel was preceded in death by his parents, longtime girlfriend, Patricia Humes, 1 brother, 1 sister and son in law, Keith Ochs.

Graveside services for Hershel L. Watson will be held, 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2022 at the Cariens Cemetery, South West of Cisne with military honors provided by Anthony Wayne American Legion Post 176 and the Wayne Memorial Post 4535 VFW.   Visitation will be at the cemetery from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.  Everyone is asked to go directly to the cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Wayne Memorial Post 4535 VFW and will be accepted at the time of service or at Nale’s Funeral Home
