85-year-old Mill Shoals, Illinois resident Jack Cash Sarks died at 2:20 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2012 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. He was a supervisor at Airtex Products in Fairfield for 21 years. At one time he owned a package store in Salem, Illinois. During his later years Jack drove a school bus for Jasper School and worked part time at Huck's Convenience Store in Fairfield. He retired from Jasper School in 2005. Jack was a lifetime member of the American Legion and VFW. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II. Jack was born April 24, 1926 in Fairfield, Illinois to Glen "Simmie Simon" and Florence Cash Sarks. After the death of his mother, Jack was raised by Melvin and Helen Sarks. On May 29, 1981 he was united in marriage to Ann Venters in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Survivors include his wife Ann of Mill Shoals; 1 son: Jody Sarks of Fairfield; 2 daughters: Jan Catt and her husband Steve of Vincennes, Indiana and Shayann Gurley and her husband Matthew of Carterville, Illinois; 1 granddaughter Stacy Cooper and her husband Chuck of Danville, Indiana; 1 foster granddaughter Chasity Carter of Tower Hill, Illinois; 2 great grandchildren Amanda Cooper of Danville, Indiana and Logan Cooper of Indianapolis, Indiana; 3 foster great granddaughters Cayneisha, Celena, and Caira. His parents, 1 son Jackie Dean, a brother Bernard, 2 sisters Bernedine Rose and Imogene Kennett, and 2 special aunts Hazel Bell and Lucille Watson preceded him in death. Funeral services for Jack Cash Sarks will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Nales Funeral Home in Fairfield, Illinois. Burial will be at Shrewsbury Cemetery in Mill Shoals. Visitation will be conducted at Nales Funeral Home in Fairfield Tuesday, March 6, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
