Jim Gruner Obituary

80 year old Fairfield resident, Jim Gruner passed away early Friday morning, March 6, 2020 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital.

Jim was born May 12, 1939 in Chicago.  He was the son of Ernst Alfred and Jennie (Mears) Gruner.  He married Judith Ann Cox on October 9, 1960 in Fairfield. Jim had been the Production Manager for the Wayne County Press for 49 years, retiring in 2016. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a faithful member of Fairfield First Christian Church helping out with many dinners with Taco Tuesday being his favorite. He had been a 26 year member of the Fairfield Fire Department from 1972 until 1998.

Jim is survived by his wife Judy, two sons, Joey and wife Angie (Mills) Gruner of Mahomet and Jeff Gruner of Fairfield; three grandchildren, Alysha (Harold) Gil, Jeremy Gruner and Hannah Gruner and one great grandchild, Lily Gil. Preceding Jim in death were his parents and sister.

Funeral services for Jim Gruner will be Tuesday, March 10th, 2020 at 2:00pm at the First Christian Church in Fairfield. A visitation will be held from noon until the time of service at 2pm at the church. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery with full military rites provided by Anthony Wayne Post 176 American Legion and Wayne Memorial Post 4535 VFW.  Memorials may be made to First Christian Church for their mission fund.  Online condolences can be left for the family at www.nalesfuneralhome.com.
