Josephine Linne

Josephine Linne, 87, passed away Friday, January 6, 2023 at the Oakview Nursing home in Mt. Carmel, IL.

Josephine was the mother of Teresa Merritt Jones and Thomas “Buddy” Merritt, She was formerly married to Darrell Linne. Her Parents were Lillian E. (Craig) and Ossie Delmas McDowell.

Josephine was born in Golden Gate on April 11,1935. She was a former resident of Fairfield. While Living in Fairfield she was a member of the Northside Baptist Church where she has taught Sunday School and Bible School when her children were young. She also had worked at the dietary department at the Fairfield Memorial Hospital and then worked at the Circuit Clerk’s office at the courthouse.

She enjoyed doing puzzle books, reading and studying the bible, watching tv and being with family and friends.

 Josephine later moved to Decatur, IL where she worked at the Millikin Bank for many years. She then moved to Geff, IL where she worked at the Flora Bank in Flora, IL, then moved to Flora and that’s where she resided until she entered the nursing home.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, twin sister, Geraldine Williams and a grandson, Kyle W. Merritt.

Survivors include her daughter, Teresa Merritt Jones of Saint Francisville, IL, Son, Thomas “Buddy” Merritt of Flora, IL, 1 sister, Doye (Ralph) Billington of Macedonia, IL, 2 Grandsons, Cory M. (Lindsey) Jones of Poland, Ohio, and Coby L. (Katie) Jones of Oblong, IL, 7 great grandsons, 1 great granddaughter, 2 step great granddaughters, 2 great great grandsons and one great great granddaughter

Graveside services for Josephine Linne will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Buckeye Cemetery. Friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
