June (Grubb) McConnell

93 year old former Fairfield resident, June McConnell passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2023

At Willow Brook Care Facility in Effingham, IL.

June was born June 15, 1930 to William David and Lula Etta (Shaw) Grubb in Orchard Township, Wayne County, IL. 

June married Leland Everett McConnell on June 25, 1950 West of Geff, IL. Everett passed away on February 28, 2014

June was a member of the First Christian Church and former longtime active member of the Buckeye Christian Church in rural Geff.

June enjoyed playing games with family and Grandchildren.  She loved working in her many flower gardens and loved family gathering with her mother and sisters. Playing games with family and grandchildren were the highlight of her life.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, 2 sisters; Alice Bankston and Rose Bud Hiley.

Survivors include 2 sons Dennis (Maxine) McConnell of The Woodlands, Texas and David (Irma) McConnell of Casey, Illinois. 6 Grandchildren, 10 Great-Grandchildren

Funeral Services for June McConnell will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Nale’s Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. to service time at Nale’s

With burial to follow at Bailey Cemetery North of Wayne City, IL

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Research or Oblong Children’s Home and will be accepted at the Funeral Home.
