88-year-old June Spencer of Fairfield, Illinois died at 5:20 a.m. Saturday June 30, 2012 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital in Fairfield, Illinois. June and her husband moved to Fairfield and both worked for the Kroger grocery store. During World War II, June worked at Airtex in Fairfield. June was one of the original volunteers for the Fairfield Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, which is known as the "Pink Ladies". She was a member of First Christian Church in Fairfield, Illinois. She had taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible Scholl classes. June also served as sponsor for the High School students and cooked for the High School Prayer Breakfast. June was born July 7, 1923 in Benton, Illinois to Paul and Dana Smith Bevis. She was united in marriage to Melvin Spencer. Survivors include a daughter Linda Vinson and her husband Kent of Fairfield and 2 grandchildren, Erica and Spencer Vinson Her parents, husband, and 1 brother Kenneth preceded June in death. Services for June Spencer will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at First Christian Church in Fairfield with Brothers Carroll Kakac and Craig Scott officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be conducted at the church Tuesday, July 3, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to the time of the service. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church or the Fairfield Park District. Envelopes are available at Nales Funeral Home in Fairfield and also at the church.
