Kate (Anniss) Michels

Mary Katherine (Kate) Michels, 84 of Ellery, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. She was born May 11, 1938 to Smith and Nancy (Snidle) Anniss. She married Larry Michels on September 15, 1956. The two enjoyed nearly 64 years together.

Kate was a long-time member of Ellery Christian Church where she enjoyed teaching the Kindergarten Sunday School class for 40 years. She was a devoted mother and a full-time farmwife. She spent many hours helping her husband Larry drive tractors and care for livestock. Kate spent some time working at the Golden Gate Elevator. She also worked for many years at banks in Albion, Illinois. Kate enjoyed spending time with her four sons, grandkids, grand dogs, twin great granddaughters, and great grandson.

Kate is survived by: four sons, Wayne (Tena) Michels of Ellery, IL, Dean (Susan) Michels of Noble, IL, Kenny (Maria) Michels of Bethany, IL, and Galen (Jennifer) Michels of Albion, IL, two sisters, Wilma (Bob) Pollman, of Albion, IL and Alice Fay (Ross) Hering of Bone Gap, IL, five grandkids, Crystal (Brock) Knackmus, Larry B (Cecilia) Michels, Deanna (Ryan) Kermicle, Erica (Dayne) Young, and Tara Michels, twin great granddaughters, Brooklyn and Riley Knackmus, great grandson Evan Michels, and several nieces and nephews.

Kate is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Michels and parents, Smith and Nancy Anniss.

Visitation for Kate Michels will be held Friday, October 28, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Nale’s Funeral Home in Albion. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery, Ellery, Illinois.

Memorials may be made to the Ellery Christian Church and will be accepted at Nale’s Funeral Home.
