88 year old Albion, Illinois resident Kenneth D. Smith died at 9:48 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Gateway Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. He worked at Quality Dry Cleaners in Albion for over 50 years. Kenneth was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Albion, the Moose Lodge, Rotary for 42 years with 32 years perfect attendance, a First Paul Harris Fellow, Albion Rotary, past president of the Albion Park Board, and very active in civic affairs. He was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan.
Kenneth was born March 18, 1928 in Albion, Illinois to Frank T. Smith and Verdia Jones Smith. He was united in marriage April 19, 1947 to Betty L. Smith.
Survivors include his wife Betty Smith of Albion, Illinois; a son Sammy Smith and his wife Sheila of Albion, Illinois; a daughter Thoma Jo Smith of Albion, Illinois; a sister Marjorie Chitwood of Albion, Illinois; 6 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, 1 sister.
Funeral services for Kenneth D. Smith will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Nale's Funeral Home in Albion, Illinois with Brother Steve Livengood officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery of Albion, Illinois.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Nale's Funeral Home in Albion, Illinois.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital or donors choice and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
