94 year old Laura Mae Johnson of Albion, passed away from this life to the next on October 17, 2020 at Deaconess Gateway in Newburgh, IN. Laura Mae was born August 27, 1926, the eldest of seven children of Frank and Carrie (Liddle) Orrel. Laura Mae married Fredrick “Casey” Naylor until his death. Later she married Fredrick Johnson, who also preceded her in death.
Laura Mae worked for many years at the Albion Garment factory. She was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Albion. She loved to cook and play cards with friends. She enjoyed spending time at the hunting cabin she and Casey owned in Pope County, IL
In addition to her husbands, Laura Mae was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, John Robert “Bob” and Chester “Chet” Orrel, and three sisters, Sylvia “Cricket” Schwenke, Margaret Turner and Jane Tomblinson.
Laura Mae is survived by two step daughters, Doris Latham of Ava and Jean Ann Briggs of Bone Gap, a brother, Tom Orrel of Albion and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for Laura Mae Johnson will be held Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Graceland Cemetery in Albion. Friends and family are asked to go directly to the cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the 1st Presbyterian Church of Albion and will be accepted at Nale’s Funeral Home in Albion who are in charge of the arrangements.
