Madlyn “Ann” Lewis, 68, of Fairfield passed away at her residence on September 18, 2025. She was born on May 29, 1957, in Bloomington, Illinois, to James and Madeline (Doty) Lewis. Ann had worked as a childcare counselor, a rehabilitation aide, and a CNA.
Survivors include her son, J.D. Erbe of Decatur, Illinois; two sisters, Marlena Hearn of Cisne, Illinois, and Margaret Sumner of Fairfield, Illinois; and a brother, Jeff Lewis of Macon, Illinois.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jerald Lewis of California and James Lewis of Tennessee; and a sister, Mary Erbe of Beecher City, Illinois.
The family extends a special thank you to her neighbors, Susan, who listened to her “jibber jabber” and for all the prayers, and to Kari and Lexie Ward for helping with yardwork and other chores. These friends looked in on her and were generous with their time never wanting anything in return. May God bless them.
As Ann requested, her body was cremated, and a family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
