Marcus "Odie" O'Daniel

60-year-old rural Ellery, Illinois resident Marcus "Odie" O'Daniel died at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Mt. Vernon Nursing & Rehab. He was a heavy equipment operator. Marcus served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. Marcus was born August 16, 1952 in Evansville, Indiana to Herbert Mac and Wanda Mitchell Lydick O'Daniel. Survivors include 1 son Mac O'Daniel of Bone Gap, Illinois; 1 daughter Lori Ann O'Daniel of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; 2 sisters Kathy Shaw and her husband Michael of Albion, Illinois and Becky Holly and her husband Chuck of Albion, Illinois; 2 uncles Robert O'Daniel of Fairfield, Illinois and Bill O'Daniel of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; a special friend Lerryn Leavens of Carmi, Illinois; 2 grandchildren Josh and Hannah; and 1 great grandson Branson. Marcus was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, 1 son, and 1 grandson. Graveside services for Marcus "Odie" O'Daniel will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Graceland Cemetery of Albion, Illinois with Brother Kirk Rowe officiating. There will be no visitation. Family members and friends should go directly to the cemetery.
