Mary I. (Mossburger) Holmes

93 year old Fairfield resident, Mary I. Holmes passed away Tuesday morning July 18, 2023 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital.

Mary was born July 16, 1930 in Mill Shoals, IL to William C. and Carrie (Hutchcraft) Mossburger. She was a home maker and had also worked at Rex Filter.

Mary married her first husband William L. Winter on April 3, 1948 in Sims, IL., he preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 1983, later she married Harold Holmes in 1986 in Wayne County, IL. He also preceded her in death in 2014.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Brad (Shari) Winter and Richard (Darlene) Winter all of Fairfield, IL.

1 Sister Eva Marvel of Fairfield, IL,  A sister-in-law, Betty Mossburger of Harrison, Ohio.

6 Grandchildren; Jennifer, Jeremy, Christopher, Jacob, Zac and Fisher

3 Great-Grandchildren; Madalynn, Meredith, and Macy

Preceding her in death were her parents, both husbands, 3 Sisters;  Bernadine Watson, Hester Harl & Mina Huey, 3 Brothers;  Virgil Mossburger, Everett Mossburger and Charles (Chic) Mossburger. Step-son

Graveside services for Mary I. Holmes will be held 11:15 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2023 at Shrewsbury Cemetery, Mill Shoals, IL.   Friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Wayne County Humane Society and will be accepted at Nale’s Funeral Home.
