Mildred I. Walker

Mildred I. Walker, 85, of Fairfield, IL passed away Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Fairfield Senior Living in Fairfield, IL.  Mildred was born October 20, 1939, in Wayne County, IL to Edward and Lula Mae (Shott) Morlan. 

Mildred married Joy Lyle Walker in Eldorado, IL on June 16, 1956.  They celebrated 68 wedding anniversaries together.  They shared many wonderful memories of traveling from coast to coast as a husband-and-wife truck driving team. Mildred was a waitress for many years and for seven years the couple owned and operated Mom’s Diner in Geff.

Mildred is survived by her husband, Joy; daughters, Theresa Eubanks of Geff, IL, Marsha Walker of Kentucky, and Patricia Walker of Virginia; and a brother Ray Harris of Mississippi.  Seven grandchildren Mae White, Christina Young, Robert Hensley, Jocelyn Greathouse, John Walker, Steven Sparks, and David Sparks; and twelve great grandchildren Ethan and Evan Helton, Tucker, Tessa, and Tinzley Young, Gracelyn and Charlotte Hensley, Emma and Lexi Sparks, Wyatt Walker, James and Emma Greathouse also survive.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Judy Sparks; two sisters, Irene Mason and Brenda Wood; and two brothers, Harry Morlan and Leroy Morlan.

Services for Mildred Walker will be held at Nale’s Funeral Home in Fairfield with visitation on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.  Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
