86 year old former Fairfield resident, Neil Totten passed away early Saturday morning, November 7, 2020 at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi.
Neil was born to Margie Elva (Marks) and Chester O. Totten on April 22, 1934 in Olney. Neil was a proud career military man of 22 years, joining the Navy in 1954. He served during Vietnam on the USS America as well as being stationed in England, Brazil, Pearl Harbor, New York City, Virginia and Maryland before retiring as Chief Warrant Officer in 1976. He married Lois (Jelley) Thomason on March 4, 1994 in Longwood, Florida and she preceded him in death on July 4, 2013. Neil was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fairfield.
Neil is survived by three daughters, Sherry (Eric) Fleming of Port Charlotte, Florida, Nancy (Ray) Hixson of Port Charlotte, Florida and Stacey Totten, two step-sons, Steve (Linda) Thomason and Brian (RaeAnn Repaci) Thomason both of Live Oak, Florida, twelve grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, one sister, Margie Marvel of Mt.Vernon, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Neil in death were his parents and brothers, Leo and Glen Totten.
Graveside services for Neil Totten will be Friday, November 13th, 2020 at 1:00pm in the Veterans section of Maple Hill Cemetery in Fairfield with full military honors provided by Anthony Wayne Post 176 American Legion and Wayne Memorial Post 4535 VFW. There will be no visitation. Friends and family are to go directly to the cemetery. Please follow the CDC guidelines with social distancing and the wearing of masks.
