Ray Hurley

73-year-old Wayne City, Illinois resident Ray Hurley died at 1:01 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Franklin County Hospital in Benton, Illinois. He had been superintendent of Water Works in Wayne City for 20 years. Ray was a member of the Keenes Baptist Church.

Ray was born November 24, 1944 in Eddyville, Illinois to Hillard Hurley and Ruth Hall Hurley. He was united in marriage February 17, 1967 in Wayne City, Illinois to Dixie Edmison.

Survivors include his wife Dixie Hurley of Wayne City, Illinois; a son Darren Hurley and his wife Kori of Delaware, Ohio; a daughter, Michelle Simpson and her husband Chris of Olney, Illinois; a brother Lawrence Hurley and his wife Mary of Ellery, Illinois; 2 sisters Elizabeth Whelan of Bloomington, Illinois and Beverly Hurley of Bridgeport, Illinois; 5 grandchildren Haley, Cole and Keen Simpson and Drew and Nate Hurley.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Ray Hurley will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Keenes Baptist Church in Keenes, Illinois with Rev. Marty Lamp officiating. Burial will be in Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, Illinois.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday July 16, 2018 at Keenes Baptist Church in Keenes, Illinois.

Memorials may be made to the Keenes Baptist Church and will be accepted at the church or Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield.
