73-year-old former Browns resident, Raymond D. Smith of Carmi died at 1:28 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 20 at the Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. He had worked as a roustabout in the oilfields and had worked at Champion Labs. Raymond was born September 4, 1938 in San Mateo, California to Robert and Ruth Martinez Smith. Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Osborne and her husband Bob of Crossville and Mary Ann Conger and her husband Kevin of Evansville, IN and two grandchildren. His parents, a sister, and a granddaughter preceded Raymond in death. Services for Raymond D. Smith will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23 at Nale's Funeral Home in Albion with Steve Griswald officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Carmi Garden of Memories. Visitation will be 6 - 8 Tuesday evening, Nov. 22 at Nale's Funeral Home in Albion.
