95 year old Reba Fern Tibbs of Fairfield entered eternal life Wednesday morning, January 20, 2021 at Meadowood Nursing and Rehabilitation Home in Grayville. She was born December 4, 1925 in Burnt Prairie to John and Mary (Reed) Stewart. On February 21, 1946, she married Ralph Edward Tibbs in Wayne County, and he preceded her in death on July 17, 1990.
Reba was a retiree from Airtex Products, where she had worked for 32 years, lastly in the Inspection department. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her beloved dogs. Reba enjoyed years of tending to her gardens and flower beds, as well as quilting and scrapbooking.
Reba is survived by her children, Roy (Kathy) Tibbs of Millerstown, PA, Karen (Gary) Rice of Fairfield, and Diane Moore of Griffith, IN; Grandchildren, Cheryl (Terry) Wade, Gene (Cheryl) Bullard, Jamie (Chris) Wheeler, Robert (Byungso Kim) Tibbs, Stephen (Tracie) Tibbs, Michelle (Eryk) Tilton, Amy Davis, Cary Church, and Billy Smith; step-granddaughter, Teri Ann (Ed) Berkley; 13 great-grandchildren, 3 step great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren and 2 step great-great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Lea (Leo) Doty and Kay Hillegeist of Fairfield, and Lou (Bill) Gooch of Murphysboro; and one brother, Robert Stewart of Fairfield; daughter-in-law, Linda Tibbs of Fairfield; sister-in-laws Elvira Haile of Wayne City and Mary Stewart of Washington.
Preceding Reba in death were her parents, husband Ralph, daughter, Velma “Doris” Bullard, son, Earl Tibbs; brothers, Tom and John Stewart, sisters, Augusta Stewart, Ruth Merritt, and her twin sister Reta Hill; two son-in-laws, Jerdie Bullard and Don Moore.
Graveside services for Reba Tibbs will be held Sunday, January 24, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Maple Hill Cemetery with a one hour visitation prior to service time at the cemetery. Please follow the CDC guidelines of social distancing and the wearing of masks. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
