Robert L. "Bob" Preston

79-year-old McLeansboro, Illinois resident Robert L. "Bob" Preston died at 2:30 p.m. Monday, August 26, 2013 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro, Illinois. Robert was a driller for Renn Drilling of McLeansboro retiring some 25 years ago. He was a member of the Enfield Masonic Lodge #677 and a lifetime member of the Elks. Robert was born November 29, 1933 in Flat Rock, Illinois to Ralph and Gertrude McQuillen Preston. He was united in marriage June 10, 1955 in Enfield, Illinois to Dorothy Taylor who died May 1, 2003. Survivors include 1 daughter Susan Tripp and her husband Kevin of McLeansboro, Illinois; 3 brothers Charles Preston of Carmi, Illinois, Bill Preston and his wife Jo of Smith Mills, Kentucky and Donnie Preston of Benton, Illinois; 2 grandchildren Dustin Parmley and Shannon Parmley; 2 step grandchildren Griffin and Nic Tripp; and 3 great grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and 1 brother. Services for Robert L. "Bob" Preston will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 30, 2013 at Christian Chapel Church in McLeansboro, Illinois with Brother Robert "Bud" Sefried officiating. Burial will be in the White County Memorial Gardens Cemetery of Carmi, Illinois. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Christian Chapel Church in McLeansboro, Illinois. Masonic services will be at 7:30 p.m. provided by the Enfield Masonic Lodge 677.
