62-year-old Geff, Illinois resident Ron Carter died at 8:55 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville, Indiana. He was a self-employed electrician and carpenter. Ron was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW Posts in Fairfield. Ron was born October 5, 1950 in Fairfield, Illinois to Lawrence "Til" and Mary McDannel Carter. He was united in marriage to Becky Sarks February 26, 1971 in Geff, Illinois. Survivors include his wife Becky Carter of Geff, Illinois; his parents Til and Mary Carter of Geff, Illinois; 1 daughter Wendy Ahlstedt and her husband Dave of Newburgh, Indiana; a brother Larry Carter and his wife Pat of Fairfield, Illinois; and 2 grandsons Carter and Caleb Ahlstedt of Newburgh, Indiana. Ron was preceded in death by his grandparents. Services for Ron Carter will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Nales Funeral Home in Fairfield, Illinois with Brother Tom Pope officiating. Burial with full military rites provided by the Anthony Wayne American Legion Post 176 and Wayne Memorial VFW Post 4535 will be in Bestow Cemetery of Geff, Illinois. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Nales Funeral Home of Fairfield, Illinois
