Roy "Lewis" Cravens

91 year old Roy "Lewis" Cravens went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday morning, February 10, 2019 at Aperion Care in Fairfield. Lewis retired from Airtex Products in 1990 after working there since he was 17 years old. He was a faithful member of the First General Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years.

Lewis was born June 5, 1927 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and was raised by Roy and Alberta Weedon. On August 18, 1956 in Jefferson County, Illinois he married Nova Tyler and she preceded him in death on July 20, 2011.

Lewis is survived by a son, Gene Cravens of Villa Park, IL; brother in law, JB Tyler and his wife Ollie Mae, sisters in law Shirley Steury and her husband Charles, Omega Scarbrough and her husband Don, Virginia Witter and her husband Donald, and Darlene Tyler, all of Fairfield, Marilyn Tyler of Olney, and Joan Tyler of Mt. Vernon. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Lewis was preceded in death by his wife Nova, infant daughter, Linda Sue, parents Roy and Alberta Weedon, father and mother in law, B.B. and Jala Tyler, sister in law Lavern (Ray) Vaughan and brothers in law, Andy, Nate, and Jim Tyler.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 14th, 2019 at 11:00 am at the First General Baptist Church in Fairfield, Illinois. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10:00am until 11:00am at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First General Baptist Church or Fairfield Memorial Skilled Care Unit and will be accepted at the church or the funeral home.
