Ruben E. Shreve

Ruben Shreve, age 93, of Fairfield passed away Monday morning, March 8, 2021 at his residence surrounded by loved ones.

Ruben was born in Wayne County on June 13, 1927 to Gilbert and Lydia (Gregory) Shreve. Ruben married Gladys Musgrave on December 21, 1947 in Wayne City and they have enjoyed over 73 years together. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy having been a Fireman First Class in 1945. Ruben retired after 40 years from driving a fuel truck for Mobil Oil Company and tended to his farm. He was a member of the Ainad Shriners Temple of Southern Illinois as well as being a 50 plus year member of the Wayne City Orel Masonic Lodge #759.

Ruben leaves wonderful memories to be cherished by his wife, Gladys, his children Richard (Robin) Shreve of Fairfield, Deborah (Michael) Hall of Plainfield, Indiana, and daughter-in-law Terri Shreve of Fairfield; Eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceding Ruben in death were his parents, son Randall, daughter Diana Lynn, three sisters and one brother.

Funeral services for Ruben Shreve will be held at noon, Saturday, March 13th, 2021 at Archie L. Sanders Memorial Chapel in Wayne City with a visitation to be held from 10:00 am until the start of the Masonic service at 11:45 a.m. followed by the funeral service, all at the chapel. Burial will be in Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City with full military rites provided by Anthony Wayne American Legion Post 176 and the Wayne Memorial Post 4535 VFW.
