Shirley D. (Pottorff) Stewart

85 year old Fairfield resident, Shirley D. Stewart, passed away at Wabash Christian Village, Carmi, IL on Friday, February 11, 2022.

Shirley was born July 16, 1936 to Jacob and Grace (Merritt) Pottorff , she married Estell Stewart on October 7, 1954  in Burnt Prairie. She had worked in the County Clerk’s office as a typist and a type setter at the Wayne County Press for 35 years.

Also the janitor for the Liberty Baptist Church for 70 years.

Shirley is survived by her son Estell Stewart Jr .Fairfield.  Her daughter Debbie Sullivan, Louisville, KY. 1 Grandchild, 2 Great Grandchildren

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Estell, infant daughter Patsy Darlene Stewart, 1 brother, 2 sisters. 1 granddaughter, Natlie Wamsley

Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday February 16, 2022 at Nale’s Funeral Home.  Funeral Services at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Liberty Baptist Church. Burial at Burnt Prairie Cemetery to follow.
